Background
The property is situated in Alles-sur-Dordogne , South
West France . The property is undergoing renovation, has
poor insulation and single glazed windows. It is 300m3
overall with 16 rooms ( 7 bedrooms ) and has 6
occupants ( 2 adults , 4 children ). The original heating
system was a 35kW oil boiler that provided domestic hot
water and central heating together with a 14kW Villager
wood stove. With the rise in oil prices ( 2009) the annual
fuel cost was over 3000€.
Replacement Heating System Requirements.
To be more cost effective so the the central heating could be used without worrying about the cost
involved.
With 4 young children , domestic hot water has to be plentiful.

This is based on around 20m3 of mixed oak and chesnut sourced locally. An
average of 2 burns per day - Mon to Friday , 3 burns - Sat and Sun.

was installed in a barn adjacent to the
house, together with an AKVATerm 2000litre
Standard EK + K accumulation tank.
120 SunnPro solar thermal tubes were also
installed ( an additional 30 tubes were
installed to compensate for shaded area in
late afternoon)
